Taraz Metrology has won the Clean Futures Acceleration Fund Programme provided by Connected Places Catapult.
We are excited to announce that Taraz Metrology has won the Clean Futures Acceleration Fund Programme provided by Connected Places Catapult. This programme aims to provide a solution to the challenges associated with the rail and automotive manufacturing sectors in the West Midlands, while providing bespoke technical and commercial support. Our challenge focuses on clean and efficient vehicle manufacturing and assembly design.
Our project aims to advance measurement and analysis methods for electric vehicle manufacturing. We are working with a giant automobile manufacturer to create a comprehensive, accurate and fast optical measurement solution for quality control of electric vehicle manufacturing that can capture precise measurements in seconds. Our innovative solution will be based on our existing Areal Surface Measurement (ASM) system. This system is optimised for wide-area measurement, employing fringe projection technology combined with advanced photogrammetry. This combination significantly enhances our ability to accurately measure challenging features and surfaces, such as highly reflective metal components, datums, and sharp edges and corners.
This automated non-contact measurement system uses advanced optical technology to detect defects in electric vehicle manufacturing. It not only provides raid measurements of reflective parts but also helps reduce emissions throughout the manufacturing process. The system is designed to meet relevant ISO standards and NPL guidelines. ensuring accuracy and relatability in characterisation, measurement, and analysis.
Utilising cutting-edge facilities, we will be demonstrating the electric vehicle manufacturing quality control capability within a testbed at Coventry University's Institute for Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering, with a targeted launch in March 2025.
You can find more details about our advanced ASM system here. Get in touch now to see how our ASM system can be used for your specific use case.
Background
Connected Places Catapult (CPC) is "the UK's innovation accelerator for cities, transport, and place leadership". CPC leads the Clean Futures acceleration programme, along with the Black Country Innovative Manufacturing Organisation (BCIMO - LINK), Coventry University and Coventry University Services. As an element of the broader West Midlands Innovation Accelerator, it is designed to boost _____ [the regions innovation and R&D capability and ability to spark commercial growth and investment].
Following the success of last year, the Clean Futures accelerator programme has returned for a second year, selecting 19 small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to join their cohort to make transport greener. This West Midlands programme supports the transport sector [as it transitions away from fossil fuels towards clean tech] and drives economic growth through [accelerating the route to market for SMEs in the sector].
