An article by Sean Lau, Kai Loh and Waiel Elmadih on the future of manufacturing quality assurance with fringe projection technology as part of the DAT4Zero project.

This article showcases how fringe projection can transform the industry by offering rapid and accurate 3D measurements for high-volume production. This new solution for increased production capabilities will ensure defects are minimised and quality assurance is maintained to the highest standards.

The need for better quality assurance methodologies is due to significant advances in manufacturing to meet the growing global demands. Batch sampling is no longer cost or time effective for large-scale productions and these new methods ensure that product quality isn't compromised.

Through using fringe projection, manufacturers can detect and analyse defects rapidly in the manufacturing process before any tolerances are exceeded. Early detection of deviations allows for adjustments to be made, significantly reducing rework and scrap.
